Opoutere, day off
Today it’s rain, wind, rain, wind, so I’m staying in my tent, writing my diary, reading, but no cycling!
Whitianga > Opoutere (57km, 4h)
The day start with 5min ferry’s turn and I have one just for me and my bike :-). Today I’m going to go to Opoutere. The place is situated in an harbour between the beach, a sand dune and a pine forest. It looks like “les Landes” in France.
Coromandel Town > Whitianga (35km, 3h)
Today I start later, it’s 9:45am. Matt is building his own house and Caitlin has to make thousand of tales before summer time. So I proposed my help as a wwoofing. They will be available in 3 weeks so I changed a bit my plan. I will visit the center of the North Island now, then come back to Coromandel Town for a couple of weeks (or more, or less, I don’t know) and finally continue my way to the east as it was (almost) organise since the beginning :-).
Waikawau > Coromandel Town (30km, 2h30)
Today I’ve planned to reach Whitianga by the 309 road. This night was cold. It confirmed itself when I discover this morning that all the grass was freezeed! We are in the end of winter and it’s the first time I see that, I’m really astonished!
Port Jackson > Coromandel walkway > Waikawau (43km, 5h30)
Today I’m gonna reach the top of the top of Coromandel Peninsula and the blue sky is come back for at least two days. Perfect! I shouldn’t have to come back by the same road because I will take the Coromandel walkway :-)! Karl did it by walk, I will ride!
