Simply cycling around
Okay, this is one more day added to my trip to Darwin. Everytime I meet someone and that person ask me where I’m going he/she repeats after me: Darwin!? Yes Darwin, the one on the top :-) At this time I feel I did not start yet but since few days I’m closer to Melbourne than Sydney and I can call this progress! Normally, I’m done with the hilly part of Australia, the rest of the road should be generally flat all the way. But we never know!
Nice travel today with some visit around. Cold during the morning and a bit of gravel road at the end. This day is a nice one except the wind which is still a head one.
This day was a tough day and my legs will remindme it tomorrow. I’ve early the morning and cycle 7h, not in one shot of course but well, it’s one of my longest day ever if not the longest since I’ve been cycling around. The weather was very pleasant except the wind which was from the west all the way. Plus there was some dirt road but the quality was very good apart some few corogation, nothing dramatic. Let’s start from the beginning :-)
It’s 7am and I’m nearly ready. I’ve return at the same spot as yesterday night and even with all this rain yesterday the ground was fine. Today I will visit Jervis bay and then cycle inland toward Branwood.
Hey, this is THE day. After a lot of hesitations, a lot of research on google maps and different blogs I have chosen the east coast. It was my original plan until I met Martin in Cairns who gave me another idea. I’ve never thought about going west and suddenly I got completely mixed in my mind. No one fault, I’d love to do both but I’ve got not enough time. It’s 10am and I’m finally ready to cycle again. But before we need pictures and souvenir of this great year (almost) in Sydney. For the first time Robin is front of the camera, and bunny as usual ;-)
After a nice sleep at Possum valley (well, I did not really sleep because there was 3 or 4 possum scratching the roof all night. That’s ok, this is nature :-) Josh and Martin, started the day by repair a bridge with Paul. They do like wwoofing in fact. Then we traveled onto the tableland and especially in a middle of nowhere to find the site that Martin and Josh are going to work on.
Today is Japan Day and I’m going to help Yoko in that primary school. These people are raising money to help the people of the unlucky Fukushima area. That’s good. I’ve been reading a lot of news since the accident happened and it definitely still on even if the media ignore it. I’m glad I can participate to an event like this.
