Wat Tanod Luang, visit, blog and unexpected show

DSCF8246

We decided to stay one full day here. The place is good, the dogs are okay, we have electricity, water and free food offered by the community. The same woman we met yesterday came back this morning and guided us throught the temple. Unfortunately we did not understand a word of what she was saying about all we have seen. After that, she pointed again that same building where we ate yesterday night. Even a guy came along and told us “come come, eat”. “ok, ok, no problem”. After lunch, we spent the afternoon working on our blog. For dinner we walked outside the temple looking for a local restaurant. There was nothing than a tiny supermarket where we could buy noodles and others cookies. During we were cooking our dinner, we’ve noticed some activity nearby. The music was loud and it looked like they installed a kind of theatre. It’s the kind of theatre where they use shadowed characters to tell a story. I’ve never seen one in live before. Very interesting :-)

Wat Khao Lan Thom > Wat Tanod Luang (47km)

DSCF8165

What happened today? This is going to be a difficult question because I did not take any picture a part this one, this morning. The road must have been a bit boring apparently. Like I said before, I’m very late on this blog and if I don’t take pictures, with everything else I’ve done until now, it makes very hard to remember everything. Anyway, I keep this post at least for the map below. Mainly that’s it :-) I keep going!

Surat Thani, trying to fix hammock

20160126_151111

I did not go very far today because I expected to find a place where to fix my hammock. This is my second attempt. Yesterday it did not work at all and today I was not lucky too. People here don’t want to help. I don’t understand why.I will have to sleep on the ground again for few more day as long as I don’t find any better solution. Later this afternoon I met Stephane again. He came back from the lake and said it was wonderful. Maybe I should have visit the place but I was to angry to visit anything.

Ao Nang, Bloggy day off

DSCF7421

Nothing Special today. Since three days now we are still working on our blog. I’ve worked on my pictures, some simple video editing and the maps. That takes a very long time and it’s far to be finished. Anyway, two days ago we’ve met another cyclist :-) His name is Clement, from France too. He has been touring for the last 16 months from France to here (obviously). Of course he has a blog (in French). He is writing very well so if you feel like reading some good French, better that my poor english, have a look :-)
About the picture of the day now; Since we are in Ao Nang, in Krabi area, the prices for food a more expensive. We spend all our time in that bloody cold starbuck cafe to work. Each time, we buy the cheapest drink or piece of cake possible and stay for few hours until our stomach tells us to eat something. Eating here would be handy but far too painful for our wallet. After few days here walking or cycling around the same streets, we found some good places where to get some cheap food. Most of them are situated at the next beach called “Noparrat Thara Beach”. Other there, there is some honest places where to eat some nice Thai food.
This actual place on the picture above is situated just between those two beaches. The prices are honest (like 50 baht for a meal and 30 for a drink). Better than the 250 or 350 Baht for a burger on the main touristy street of Ao Nang! The atmosphere here is very rural and relax. There is the road, along it, several ambulant kitchens and behind few tables. The kitchens are a side car scooter with a roof and all the stuff in. There is not much space around but it’s nice, colourful and people are happy here. That’s all we want :-)
Tomorrow we are back on the road (normally). This time, the next target is Phuket. I did not want really to go there at first but my friends, the team with the wonderful sailing boat I’ve met in Darwin and then in Singapore are now in Phuket! That’s interesting how we keep bumping to each other even if they travel by sea and myself by bicycle :-) See you there!

Nopparat Thara beach, visit

DSCF7202

Nopparat Thara beach is the neighbour of Ao Nang beach. This place is not as busy, has less tourists shops and many more cheaper place where to enjoy Thai food. On the beach, during low tide, there is thousand of tiny crustaceans that we don’t even notice at first. This is not why we came here but that took most of my attention until the end of the day.

Lubuk Basung, day off, visiting Tiku with Rahmat

DSCF1350

This morning I planned to go. My visa expires in 11 days. I should have enough time to get to Dumai and catch the ferry but we never know what could happen. The rain season is now coming and I won’t cycle under the rain unless I am really late. Firstly we took some more picture with the family, then I had some breakfast, then more pictures, then I was invited by one neighbour. I had a drink plus some snacks at his place. This is hard to leave a nice place like here. Everyone is so kind. Rahmat offered me to stay one more night and maybe visit around. I was hesitating until I found a deal. You guys stop smoking for the day if I stay with you. That way I am doing something good for you as you do something good to me :-) Deal?
