Pukearuhe > Awakino (67km, 4h20)

Today is a nice day and I’m going to continue my trip towards Auckland. I’ve plenty of time but as every time I prefer to anticipate. Geordie, Carissa and her family are really nice people and I had a good time yesterday night. Finally it was a good thing to not have crossed the “Whitecliffs walkway” yesterday and even more better because I’ve seen the cliffs! Maybe if I had continued onto the difficult track I couldn’t see the coast side. So this is two positive things :-)

Step, Taupo > East Cape (477km, 6 days)

Mangakoni > Rotorua (82km, 4h40)

Today, I’m going to come back to Rotorua, in the same camp where I’ve so much difficulties to quit last week :-)

Mangakoni, day off

As the forecast has predicted the rain is with us for the day. So, I won’t move anywhere. There is absolutely nothing to do here. Just stay in my tent, read and eat or eat and read.

Taupō > Mangakino (55km, 3h10)

Hey! Today is finally sunny cool :-) So, I’m going to Mangakino because of many points :

it’s not the same road as I took between Rotorua and Taupō (because I will pass through to continue to Whakatane and to the east cape)
it’s not a main road (less trucks)
there is a lake there as well
there is also four free camps sites closed to each other
and I’m waiting for the answer of Russell and Mangakino is almost on the way to go to Tauranga or Rotorua.
and that’s enough :-)

Taupō, last day

Today has every the weather is grey grey grey but there is only a few little showers so I can do the last visit around Taupō.

Taupō, second day off (25km)

Today today… what can I do… there is different things to do and visit but it’s difficult to find the motivation with all this clouds above my head. I write always about the weather but since about two weeks it’s like this grrr! I WANT SUNNY AND WARM DAYS!
