Bah, Cooktown is nice, I can stay another day. I’m not in hurry and I would like to use internet before I start my loop back to Cairns. I certainly need another week to finish my first visit.

Long day today and I’m going to spend few hours to write everything I think but let’s go. Firstly I didn’t sleep well last night because it was so hot! And even if I was hide behind a tree, it was really easy for any ranger or policeman to find me. Nothing appended but well, it could be.
Somewhere after Ayton > Cooktown (48km, 3h)
Today, direction Cooktown! Finally after all these questions I asked to myself, I’ve almost done everything I wanted. And it’s good because I won’t regret anything. Normally the road should be easier than yesterday. Since the different villages I’ve passed yesterday, the road was already easier and it’s normal I think because they need an easy access to carry bigger things. So I’m positive and hope I won’t have to push my bike as long as yesterday. I even pushed more than one year in NZ. Who said OZ is flat?
Cape Tribulation > somewhere after Ayton (57km, 4h50)
Hey :-) I’ve finally decided to continue my trip towards Cooktown. It should be a pity to come until the cape and come so closed to Cooktown! From here to the town of mister Cook the road is only allowed for 4WD vehicles. But I’ve got a MTB and I’m going to rock this trail! Let’s go!
Mossman > Daintree > Cape Tribulation (76km, 4h10)
It’s 8am already and everybody is still asleep. After a night like yesterday I understand. I slept quite well even if the night was short. My idea was to move earlier than usually to avoid the hot temperatures of the day but I can’t go without say good bye. Anyway, I can start eating my breakfast and then I will decide what to do. 20 minutes later I ear some noise inside. The sisters are awake and soon I see Stella outside. “Do you want some porridge Damien?” “Thank you Stella, I’m okay”. A moment later again, I’ve finished eating my first part of energy and I’m ready to go. I thank everybody for their invitation and the original time I had and didn’t expect yesterday. It was an experience I won’t forget! Bye bye!
Port Douglas > Mossman (36km, 1h50)
Today is going to be a surprising day but I don’t know it yet. Yesterday in Port Douglas, several people I met told me to not sleep in Mossman. There is plenty of aboriginal people and they usually fight against each other. It’s not safe and there is nothing special to do in this town. Well, I’m always listening carefully what tell me the people I meet but I like to see and judge with my own eyes. And I’m still hesitated to go to Cooktown as well. The road seems difficult. On the over hand I would like to visit Daintree. From there we can visit the rainforest and maybe see crocodiles! :-) So, at least I can go to Daintree, I must pass through Mossman, and then I will decide if I start my loop back or if I push to Cooktown riding by Cape Tribulation.
Port Douglas, day off
The place I found yesterday was a good one. Some bird made noise during the night when they walked on the dead crunchy leafs but I prefer that than crocodiles ;-) I’m going to spend a day in Port Douglas because I didn’t wake as early as I wanted and I didn’t visit very well yesterday. As everyday since I arrived in OZ the sky is blue and the temperature warm, nice :-)
