Simply cycling around
Today, Martin proposed me to go with him and Yoko to Rusties Market. A good occasion to discover new kind of fruits and veggies maybe. Then Tonight we are going to see Cameron, a friend of Martin. He is going to leave Australia soon to travel in asia. Many activities today :-)
I had a good time with Paul yesterday but I realised that without all my gears I can’t look around for a job because I have more than 100km to ride down. So I don’t have time… I should have calculated that before. But anyway, I’m up to 1000 meters high here, it’s cold and rainy so going down it’s maybe the best Idea. Thank you Paul for your invitation :-)
When I came down in Cairns, my idea was to stay few days, get my sim card (again and again the same thing I know) and then come back to the tableland. Up there I could sign to the job office and maybe soon start working in a farm! When I told that to Martin he propose me to come back up with his friend, Paul.
Hooo! This is a BIG spider with its baby! It’s standing in a palm tree right next to the main door of Martin and Yoko’s house. The size with the legs is like 10 cm wide! Apparently it’s not a dangerous one but I hope it won’t come in my tent… brr! OK let’s change the subject. Today I’m coming with Martin and Marco to a downhill track. I expect to do this since more than 15 years maybe and finally now, in Australia, Cairns, it’s going to happens! I will enjoy that :-)
Hey, yesterday night I’ve found a good place to set my tent. It was on an edge of a sports field at the end if the Esplanade cycleway. I woke up early to make sure nobody can see me and I’m now having a good breakfast front if this nice sunrise :-)

This is my first trip in Australia. It looks small but it’s the biggest step I’ve made until now! It’s so warm here compare to New Zealand! I’ve met already 3 cyclists on the way : two guys (one from France with a guy from Australia) cycling for few weeks from Brisbane to Cooktown. Then one woman from Germany was cycling back from Cape york.
Today I’m coming back to Cairns. After 2 weeks riding around I’m going to get my tax file number and find a work somewhere. Maybe I will come back later to Mareeba because the office was close yesterday and it the same today. Right we are Sunday…
