Kings rest area > Barunga festival (34km, 1h50)

I left as early as I could this morning and arrived at the festival just when they opened the doors :-) Perfect timing! This is more the preparation day and there is not much to do but at least I paid to sleep somewhere so it’s better than nothing. The guy are repeating on the main stage and the shops are taking place around. Lucky me, this community has even a library so I’ve been there for one hour to charge my phone and laptop :-)

Elsey National Park > Kings rest area (77km, 3h15)

I’m still not sure if I’m going to the Festival or not as I’ve discovered that the price was $40 per person and not free as said the woman I met about a week ago at the Pink Panther Roadhouse. I know the turn off is something like 50km after Mataranka so I will stop somewhere there for the night and will decide tonight.

Elsey National park camping, day off

A relaxing day today. This campsite is very nice and very quiet. I think I said that already :-) I’ve got nothing to do, no pedaling, no internet browsing, no swimming but reading! I’ve started a book a while ago and I very happy to finally have nothing else to do than reading. And later this afternoon I’ll check the Roper  river which is 5 minutes far from where I am. Busy schedule today! ;-)

Thermal Pool > Mataranka > Bitter Springs > Elsey National Park (36km, 2h35)

Second day spending in Mataranka and second day swimming in nice warm waters. That’s holidays :-) This time I’ve been to “Bitter Springs” another spot on the other side of Mataranka and still in the Elsey National Park. I’ve tried to go early the morning to avoid the crowd and actually it was good. I could see turtles!

Warloch rest area > Mataranka > Thermal pool (45km, 2h10)

Yes, it did rain last night but not as heavy as I was afroad of. And today, the good weather is coming back, good! For the first time in Australia I had the chance to taste a natural thermal pool and I must say, it’s very VERY nice :-) Not even crowded, like ten people at a time and all stayed together when the other half was empty most of the time. People were maybe scared of the rapids where I found that spot being the best. Very nice place!

Maryfield area > Warloch rest area (103km, 4h35)

Another hot day today and it’s certainly gonna be like this all the up now. This is why I’m cycling early the morning, then find a place where I can stay out of the sun until 4pm, then I’m coming back on the road for the rest of the afternoon and find a spot in the bush because of the lack of rest area. Fortunately, Larrimah is on my way, about 60km from where I’ve slept last night. FOr the first time in Australia, I’ve seen a real crocodile. It’s in a cage, it’s a tiny one, but it’s a real one! :-)
