Elsey National park camping, day off

A relaxing day today. This campsite is very nice and very quiet. I think I said that already :-) I’ve got nothing to do, no pedaling, no internet browsing, no swimming but reading! I’ve started a book a while ago and I very happy to finally have nothing else to do than reading. And later this afternoon I’ll check the Roper  river which is 5 minutes far from where I am. Busy schedule today! ;-)

I’ve slept in my “new” tent for the second time now. Last night I did not even take my sleeping bag because I thought I would be too hot but early this morning I was almost cold.

I will have to change to position of my tent as well because at 7:30am the sun is already warming up my tent and will be on fire at 11am! haha

I moved my tent, had brrakfast, did my washing. Few! Hard work ;-)

Tent and bike are now on a shady spot. My food should be fine.

That’s the view. What can I do now? Ah yes, read :-)

Later this afternoon, I had a chat with the guys who manage this campsite. The woman told me again “do not go on the 4km walk after 4pm”. A Israeli couple did it last week and came back at night time. They did not expect the sunset to be so quick. They were scared and the guys even stepped on a snake! I won’t try that, I just want to have a look to the river side. Can I? Ok, thanks :-)

Let’s go!

Wow, there is crocodiles here?

The path is going down slightly. I know the river is not far.

Effectively this was a really short trip.

Tomorrow morning, I will do the Mataranka falls walk. For now, I’m turning left towards the ” Swimming Pontoons”. They say there is crocs and they offer us the opportunity to swim! There is something I don’t get here…

That’s the place and I’m not going any further.

This is very nice actually.

One of the stream running in the river.

Greenish and bluish :-)

Hop, that’s it for today. Lazy day, lazy post!

  1. Bon alors ces crocos, ils se montrent ou pas ? Je sens que si tu pars sans avoir fait leur connaissance tu vas être frustré ! En même temps éviter les rivières serait une bonne précaution non ?

  2. May be there are freshwater crocs not saltwater ones, so you can swim.
    There is still risk. :D
