Ratchaburi, visiting fabric factory, brick factory and Adobe houses (50km)

Today is a plenty day! Pita did for us a pro tour with lots different things so see and discover. First we worked on her Adobe house this morning, had lunch and hopped on our bicycles again. The original goal was to visit one of her friend who is an expert in Adobe house. He lives about 20 kilometres from where we started. On the way, we stopped first at a factory where they made traditional textile. Then we stopped at two other places where they do the same but handmade. Then we kept cycling and stopped on the way at a brick factory. The guys were very nice and showed us the whole process. Then, we kept on going until we stopped to the place where Grandin (The monk I’ve been cycling with from Singapore to Malacca) built an Adobe house for a friend. And finally, 4 or 5 hours later, we arrived at Pita’s friend property where we had dinner. After that we cycled the 20km back to Pita’s home.

Ratchaburi, visiting a place where 100.000 bats live

DSCF8366

This morning we worked a bit more on the Adobe house. Then Pita brought us to see 100.000 bats that leave their cave every day around 5:30pm. This place is apparently more famous than I thought. Today there is even some biologists and other scientists who stand on the hill, next to the cave’s entrance, to catch some of those tiny bats and verify if they are fine.

Wat Tanod Luang, visit, blog and unexpected show

DSCF8246

We decided to stay one full day here. The place is good, the dogs are okay, we have electricity, water and free food offered by the community. The same woman we met yesterday came back this morning and guided us throught the temple. Unfortunately we did not understand a word of what she was saying about all we have seen. After that, she pointed again that same building where we ate yesterday night. Even a guy came along and told us “come come, eat”. “ok, ok, no problem”. After lunch, we spent the afternoon working on our blog. For dinner we walked outside the temple looking for a local restaurant. There was nothing than a tiny supermarket where we could buy noodles and others cookies. During we were cooking our dinner, we’ve noticed some activity nearby. The music was loud and it looked like they installed a kind of theatre. It’s the kind of theatre where they use shadowed characters to tell a story. I’ve never seen one in live before. Very interesting :-)

Wat Lang Khao Noi > Wat Khao Lan Thom (33km)

Yesterday, we stayed in the same area and worked on our blog. We’ve done nothing else special. We moved from the beach to a temple nearby the cafe where we have spent the day. Unfortunately this temple was full of dogs again and a simple movement made them bark. Today we met Sebastien again. He invited us to visit a mangrove which has been renovated and is now protected. Apparently, the King launched that project. Good on him.

Phraphut Kiti Sirichai > Wat Thanmikaram Municipal School (80km)

Few! my blog is still surviving! The last two weeks were full of different events and I did not find any time to write anything. Well, I kept doing the images, the maps and uploading some tiny videos but everything was offline. Very useful isn’t it? I’m now in Bangkok, but let’s come back two weeks earlier, here when I left the story. We are back in time :-) That following day started really early this morning. Stephane wanted to catch the early lights this morning so we woke up at 5am. The night was very short as we had to change our spot in the middle of the night because that bloody dog never stopped barking at us. Result: four hours of sleep, shuh! Behind this picture, there is actually two: One for the sky, and one for the temple. I think I’ve pushed my camera to its limits this time. The quality is not as good as I would like but the next camera of my dream is far too expensive and maybe too big too for my travel style. I have a week to think about it before getting to Bangkok. Anyway, let’s start that day before I forget everything haha :-)

Wat Don Sai > Wat Thung Sai Thong (50km)

DSCF7692

Today for the first time since Malaysia, we reached the east coast and the gulf of Thailand. The beaches here are not as touristy than the one in the south west, at least, not yet. We had to come back on the highway for a little while but we took the opportunity to stop at a petrol station, get some water, clean some clothes, have an extra shower and work in a cafe. The new deal now is to find the “Amazon Cafe” which have Wifi and plugs to charge all we need. Very easy life :-)

Wat Suwan Thararam > Wat Don Sai (80km)

Good day today. We keep finding little roads away from the highway. The food is cheap and tasty except when we don’t get what we order… I thought I would be travelling in Thailand during the rainy season. Since then, this is the first time we get regular rain through the day. Fortunately, every time we made a break, the rain started :-) The luck is coming back!
