Port Augusta > Ranges View Rest Area (65km, 3h)

Today is the day! Yes I’ve said that before :-) I’m cycling in the Australian desert for the first time and it’s great. Maybe I won’t say that in a couple of weeks. Thanks TSM for your precious help one more time! I’ve spent almost all my credit already haha. Lots of pasta, bread, nuts, dry fruits, super powder, sugar, sugar and… sugar :-) Ah and I’ve forgot, sugar as well!

Wongyarra > Port Augusta (88km, 4h10)

DSCF8033

Today, I want to reach Port Augusta and go to a Telstra shop to get a new SIM card. That way I will have more coverage along the way. (ps: I will have a new phone number too because it’s faster and easier doing this that way). Then, I will have to go shopping to get a week of food and plenty of water. I’m not worried about this next step. I just don’t want to spend too much money along the way because the food is going to be more expensive for sure! This is a cloudy day again and this morning was freezing! But the hot coffee helped!

Strathalbyn area > Adelaide (74km, 4h30)

Today I will achieve another goal, Adelaide! But I don’t know why, everytime I approach or leave a big city the rain comes up. When I left Sydney it rained. When I arrived in Melbourne, it rained. And today is one of the worse day. I had to stop because my jacket did not protected me anymore and I was cold! But Graham and Joy are waiting for me and I must get some stuff from the post office and a bicycle shop. Tomorrow is Anzac day and none of these shops will be open so I must make it today.

Ashville > Strathalbyn area (89km, 5h)

Today the clouds are coming back but the rain is missing (lucky me!). I had some light headwind during the second half of the trip because I’ve changed my direction. Not a big deal, I was just getting used to 30km/h and now I was 17km/h. I felt like a snail :-) The road was quite boring most of the time except when I’ve catched a ferry and pass thought some cute villages. South Australia as many similarities with France I guess. Several houses are build with stone which makes a huge difference style wise. And this specific area is full of winery :-) Let’s start the visit!
