This is the first picture I got from Bali, the airport :-) The flight was good. I paid $51 (AUD) for a 1 month visa and will have to extend it 10 days before the end to get another month. It’s now about 5:30 and I’m cycling to the hotel which is 14km north, in north Kuta. There is not much traffic now so I prefer to wait there than here.
Here I am!
The Grand Avenue Hotel :-) It’s 6am and I’m going to wait here until 10am and then I will check in.
Finally the staff let me in at 8am and gave me my room already. I was waiting half asleep sitting on the ground against a wall. The guy must have wondered who I was until I explained that I booked a room for tonight ;-)
A commun sign between Australia and Bali, the gecko :-)
They even offered the breakfast. A fried rice topped with an omelette plus a real, fresh and delicious orange juice. Wow, they are very kind :-)
I’ve left everything in my room and I’m going on a bicycle tour to see how looks Bali. When I was cycling last night the atmostphere was already very different. The roads are tiny, there is a lot of scooters. I did not stop because I had all my stuff and I need to get used to that “new life”. Now, when I see a kind of landscape like this one, I know I’m travelling. This is completely different from what I’ve seen until now and I’m going to enjoy I think. Let’s visit around!
Just Wow! What is that plane doing up there?! The traffic is now crazy but every one is driver slowly and fluently. Sometimes I’m overtaken some scooter!
The seminyak beach.
The waves are wonderful and it’s forbidden to swim here.
The landscape here is so different. I’m actually cycling around, turning left or right depending of what I feel. There is a lot of buildings and suddenly a rice fields. And then a local shop and again some more rice fields.
And more again. This is very pleasant to see that nature in mixed with the city.
There is also lots of places which look like temples. Some of them like this one are bigger than others.
Hey, there is some artists too :-)
I’ve been cycling a bit more and came back on the seminyak beach again, on its north side.
The streets are definitively different than what I’ve seen until now. This is so green!
A temple entrance with its colorful flowers on the side.
Another rice fields. The workers put sort of flags to keep the birds out I guess.
I’m in North Kuta and there is huge rice fields here. Incredible!
Since this morning I’ve also seen a lot of dogs. They are very skinny and don’t have any master I guess. They don’t seem to be dangerous but more afroad of my bike. When I pass next to them, they bark and move on the side of the road but don’t try to attack.
One particular thing I’ve noticed is how much petrol station there is in Bali. They are not official and work only for scooters. Can you see it?
This one :-) They fill up Vodka bottles with fuel and sell one litre for 4000 rupiah ($0.40 AUD). I’ve heard that sometimes they even put some water in it to cheat.
Last visit for the day before I come back to the hotel. There is a nice market with many products. I’m actually looking for Kerosene for my stove but I can’t find some. It’s even harder to find as I can’t speak Indonesian and not everyone speak english. I will have to learn some Indonesian very soon! This was my first experience in Bali and so far I love it!
The photos look so nice! I want to go there again. I love Balinese food :D
Oh là là Damien que de souvenirs déjà !!! J’attends la suite de ton blog avec impatience ! Pleins de bisous français !
I’m here! I shall say the first view of Bali is within and out of expectation. And you are right, it’s easier to have a bike with you while traveling, it’s flexible.
