Hey, just came back yesterday to Alice Springs and my hub has arrived! I’m gonna make a new wheel very soon and will be on the road in few days which is great! Finally I did not wait at all because I was doing something else. Lucky!
Simply cycling around
Third and last day of this very nice Emu Run Tour. As usual, we moved at 6am from the campsite and drove directly to Watarrka (Kings Canyon). We did the 3 hours ring walk which is again, different from Uluru and Taka Tjuta. There is about 500 steps to start then we stay onto the top almost all the time. That way we enjoy the view of the landscape several times. Finally we drove back to Alice Springs where I will spend another night in the backpacker and get my stuff back.
Second day on a expedition tour. Today we are gonna enjoy the Kata Tjuta and Uluru sunrise. Then we will do a 3 hours walk in the Kata Tjuta, the “valley of winds”. Finally we will drive towards Watarrka (Kings Canyon) and reach the campsite for the night. This is a full day :-) Follow the guide! (not me).
Because I’m waiting for my new hub and new credit card to come, I’ve booked a three days tour to visit Uluru (Ayers Rock), Taka Tjuta (the Olgas), and Watarrka (Kings Canyon). That way, I keep visiting around even if I would love to cycle their. That tour is good because it includes everything: Accommodation, luggage storage and food. We also camp under the stars in swags and light a fire each night. Let’s start the visit!
Today the team and myself split. They start their trip towards western Australia and Tomorrow early morning I will be on a three days tour with “Emu Run Tour”. The package includes two nights in a backpacker and a luggage storage. So tonight I’m sleeping in a real bed which is unusual. Then I will leave my bike at the backpacker and visit Uluru, Kata Tjuka and watarrka by bus. This is gonna be different and certainly great.
I call them “the Team” as a shortcut but their real name (from left to right) are Charles (who joined yesterday), John and Susan, Neil, Kate and Graham. Their adventure is really well prepared. It took them about 6 months to make it happen! They all come from Sydney area and know each other since school. They are going to travel together for a period of one months, if I correctly remember. Neil, the most experienced, obtained the different pass to cross the aboriginal lands when needed, choose/propose the roads they will use to reach the places they want to visit. They’ve got a lot to see! Lots of bush camp, lots of kilometres, guys, enjoy! I’m sure you will :-)
