New South Wales – Page 3 – Simply cycling around

Newtown > Austinmer (70km, 4h40)

Hey, this is THE day. After a lot of hesitations, a lot of research on google maps and different blogs I have chosen the east coast. It was my original plan until I met Martin in Cairns who gave me another idea. I’ve never thought about going west and suddenly I got completely mixed in my mind. No one fault, I’d love to do both but I’ve got not enough time. It’s 10am and I’m finally ready to cycle again. But before we need pictures and souvenir of this great year (almost) in Sydney. For the first time Robin is front of the camera, and bunny as usual ;-)

Newtown, life is so hard!

I’m now in Newtown again with Robin. During those last few days Robin propose me to go the a theater. We talked about that for a while and never had the time to do it. We should go tomorrow finally :-) During that time, Bunny (the cat) consumes her day quietly.

Moving from Darlinghurst to Newtown for the last few days in Sydney

I am ready! This is really exciting to pack all my gear again. And the best surprise, it still fits :-) I’ve got my final decoration, my splendid pullover for the bike and the awesome “hippie ring” for the trailer. The whole thing is very silent now as I don’t have a noisy chain anymore. And I took off the mud guard of my trailer because it used to vibrate all the time. This is it! all my house is here :-)

Darlinghurst, My bike’s pullover is finished!

I’m really proud of myself for what I’ve done. I’ve struggle a bit at the beginning but the result is great. It’s going to match with my trailer perfectly now :-) Thanks Robin :-)

Darlinghurst, knitting a pullover for my new machine

When Robin finished to decorate my trailer, it looked great. I knew I was going to receive my new brand bike and it could be a good idea to do something for it. I expect it will look less expensive and more hippie. I’m far to be one but I like the style :-) Robin did not have the time to do it but propose me to teach me how to knit. This is a good idea :-) I like learning new stuff so here we go, I’ve started this part four times now because I was making several mistakes. Now, I’ve got the trick. I’m still slow but it’s working well. If I keep going like this every night, my bike’s pullover will be ready in few days or weeks. Let’s work!

Darlinghurst, my old bike is on sale!

This is my old bike and I’m selling it! I had three options : send it back to France which will be expensive. Find someone to cycle with me but it will be hard to find and I’m not sure if this bike is ready for it as I keep my trailer. The final option is to sell it. I need to be lucky because if I don’t find anyone, I will have to change my mind very quickly! It has been a really good machine. The reason I’m changing is simple. This one is a competition bike with 30 speeds. With one chain I can ride around 2500km. I’ve changed it many times already plus I had to change the cassette, the chainrings. Well this is something I will have to take care of a along the way.
