Today is THE day! The windy, hilly road is in front of us. All we have to do is smash it! Actually it was easier than I imagined. During the climb we could even enjoyed some downhill. The steepness of the road was gentle and the traffic, a part few trucks, was mainly quiet. After two and a half hours (including break time), we reached the summit and visited… a temple, of course. Monks (and religions in general) have good taste. They always build temples on hills, close to the water or anywhere we can see them.

Wat Ko Tamyae > Wat Ban Nong Bua Nuea (50km)
Today is another step towards Chiang Mai. The nights become slightly more fresh but that’s still not enough to use my 5°C sleeping bag :-) We have spent most of the day along the Ping river and visited a religious place when we arrived in Tak. This one as the particularity to have a huge collections of animals, mainly elephants and roosters.
Tudongkasatan > Wat Ko Tamyae (60km)
What is that? A Pile of gold? Nope that’s a temple :-) Today we have visited only one place early morning. A part that, we cycled on the smallest roads as possible. The temperature rose certainly above the 40°C around midday. It became very hard to cycle and even to rest. The break time was too hot as we did not find a very good place.
Salok Bat, visiting monkeys and bats with June
I’ve never seen that much monkeys concentrated at the same place. As planned, around 4pm, we cycled towards those spiky mountains we have seen two days ago with Pita. Kondhin chose the highway to get there. The place is not really far from Salok Bat. after the “monkey show” we watch the bat’s parade and finally came back “home”.
Salok Bat, visiting June’s rice field
One day off was good but a second one is better :-) In fact, yesterday we have done nothing (except the dishes ;-). Today we were guided by Kondhin and visited different places like his rice fields and property in general. During late afternoon, we will go to see the bats and the monkeys. That will be in the second coming post.
Wat Ban Kruat > Wat Pho Kao Ton (56km)
Today we visited a market called the 100 Years Rim Nam Market. We did not plan to visit it, that’s someone at the temple where we slept last night who recommended us. We had to make a small detour only and enjoy some tiny roads. After that we have been cycle all the way without visiting any special place until the end of the day. The last visit was a memorial called Kai Bang Rachan that commemorates the battle against the Burmese (again).
Wat Khun Krai > Wat Ban Kruat (48km) – part 4/4
We finished the day with a visit of Don Chedi Monument. This is where Naresuan statue stands. This king fought against the Burmese people, won the battle and became part of an in important part of Thai history. After that, we cycled towards the closest temple to cook our fancy dinner and spend the night.
