Today we visited a market called the 100 Years Rim Nam Market. We did not plan to visit it, that’s someone at the temple where we slept last night who recommended us. We had to make a small detour only and enjoy some tiny roads. After that we have been cycle all the way without visiting any special place until the end of the day. The last visit was a memorial called Kai Bang Rachan that commemorates the battle against the Burmese (again).
The first light of this morning.
Same cows in Australia!
That used to be a river… the dry season hit seriously here.
Here we go! That’s one end of the 100 Years Rim Nam Market.
This is the food court :-)
Let’s have some food.
I’ve seen this kind of bench yesterday and was lazy to take my camera to have a picture. These ones are more “clean”, modern than the one yesterday but basically the idea is here. This pieces of wood are flat on one side and keep their original shape on the other (which we cannot see very well, my bad). All are them are polished and that’s it! That’s a rough design but it looks good :-) Easy and cheap.
Ok, food! This fried rice is very well presented. We don’t see it very well but the rice has an heart shape. Around it there is fresh cucumbers, onions, omelette, fried chicken and soy bean on the top.
This market, 100 years ago certainly did not sell plastic stuff. When this is going to end?
These pots looks good but I don’t need anything :-)
The market is actually more like a village. The streets are narrow. Someone told us that this weekend we will almost not be able to walk here!
This courtyard looks nice. That tree is impressive.
Wood artwork.
Can you feel it’s 100 hundred years old?
Nice!
This is breaktime :-)
Houuu, there is more streets around here.
I like the different roof front off each other. When it’s raining, we might get a free shower by walking in the centre ;-)
Sweet stuff!
More!
Is that appropriate?
If you like handbags there is tonnes of them here but make sure you buy one if you really need it ;-)
“Same same but different”, the favourite sentence here :-)
That looks like the best spot to have a nap. Next time think about your colour because if you tried to hide it doesn’t work, at all… Let’s continue cycling for a little while.
Few! Going out of this market was a mission with that steep bridge :-)
Wide view onto the river.
We could cycle along the river but that’s not exactly where we are heading now.
Nice and quiet road.
Tiny river surrounded by banana trees.
That same small road became a track. Even better!
That’s where we come from.
That’s where we are going!
We reached the road again and Pita stopped to pick up her favourite bbq banana (the one on the bottom). To me, they are a bit too dry. I prefer them just fresh, simple.
Like everyday between approximately 11am and 4pm it’s too hot to cycle. We found this spot with lots of hammock around. Perfect!
After roughly another two hours cycling we reached our destination for the day: Kai Bang Rachan. This place is a memorial but there is a temple just on the other side of the road.
In the 3rd month of the Chicken year 1765 (2308 Thai year), Burma set force in Ayudhya suburb and sent a patrol to persecute villagers. The suffering forced the people to fight, and escaped to set up Kai Bang Rachan (Bang Rachan Camp). The Burmese army attacked, Khai Bang Rachan 8 times for 5 months. Although Thai people were able to defeat the Burmese army up to 7 times with their solidarity and patriotism. Their bravery was inscribed in the history of Thailand and minds of Thai people. The outstanding leaders of Bang Rachan were army, among them was spiritual leader called Arjan Thammachot, a monk of Wat Khao Nang Buat temple. (That text is coming from the sign at the entrance).
Let’s have a look.
Closer.
Just on time for sunset.
On the other side of the road there is the temple called Wat Pho Kao Ton. This is where we are going to sleep tonight. We should be safe normally haha. Pita is going to ask to monk where we could stay tonight, if we can. We prefer to stay in small and unfamous temple to make sure it will be quiet at night but the next is about 10km away. We don’t have the motivation. Just go slow!
A monk who lives in this house indicated us the direction where we can stay. Kapunkrap :-)
That’s here! Well, not in this house but around. I’ve got enough trees to find a place for my hammock. We just have to cook some rice and buy few things from the front of this temple and soon after that, I will be working on my blog again. See ya!
Oh là là, que tout ça est sympa. Merci de nous faire partager vos aventures ! A bientôt pour la suite …
I like the temple. It is very unique especially the gate.
The BBQ bananas are sweeter than fresh ones? If it get only dryer… no point putting effort to them.(I thought)
The fried rice looks very tempting… with thick cucumbers.
