Waikawau > Oparau (83km, 5h35)

2 days ago, before I leave the petrol station, I asked to the woman how was the road, if it was hilly or gravel or difficult… she answer me : “no, it’s easy, it’s along the river. There is few hills and some 20 metres gravel parts sometimes”. Hmmm, she was pretty correct but not for the gravels. It’s much Moe than 20m! But fortunately it’s compacted.

Pukearuhe > Awakino (67km, 4h20)

Today is a nice day and I’m going to continue my trip towards Auckland. I’ve plenty of time but as every time I prefer to anticipate. Geordie, Carissa and her family are really nice people and I had a good time yesterday night. Finally it was a good thing to not have crossed the “Whitecliffs walkway” yesterday and even more better because I’ve seen the cliffs! Maybe if I had continued onto the difficult track I couldn’t see the coast side. So this is two positive things :-)

New Plymouth > Pukearuhe (53km, 3h35)

Yes the sun came back and it’s a nice warm day :-) Today I’m going to reach the departure of the “whitecliffs walkway” I want to pass through that one tomorrow and avoid 30km of the main road. I want to stick as much as possible to the sea because the main road is going inland almost all the way until Auckland.  It’s maybe shorter but I have enough time to choose a side trip. Let’s go!
