Ao Nang > Tha Pom Klong Song Na (29km)

Today we left Ao Nang and headed towards Phuket. We were back on the road only around 4pm because I was waiting for a shop to open and pick up some clothes I left there for repair. But that’s fine. All we wanted was at least to leave this place after nearly a week spent there. Time runs too fast! The first thing we appreciate after leaving the area is the price of food. It came back to normal cheap and very nice food. Look at this wonderful salad :-) I explain what’s in it in more details inside this post :-) Cheers!

This is the spot we found in Nopparat Thara beach and where we slept the past 6 nights. That was very quiet. I even left my trailer during the day and my clothes to dry. Nobody came a part the gardener who was cool.

Today, during we were cycling on a nice small road, I’ve learned something.

Do you know what it is?

A bit closer… So?

Closer again… These are pineapple plants! Now, they are at a stage where the fruit did not started yet to grow but certainly in few weeks or months the farmer will have something to pick up :-)

We just left the country side road to reach the main one. Well, that’s still remote :-)

Looking at the map, we found a place where to camp tonight and fortunately, not far away on the opposite side, there was this place. Four families live next to each other and cook different food. The one on the background proposes some chicken rice. The one behind us (not on this picture) propose to chicken sticks. The one on the right side propose some fruit salad.

This is a local food court :-) The one on the let side propose some juice and the last one some roti. We are two and tried a bit of everything so everyone is happy :-)

I’ve personaly chose the salad which is very original. There is some apple, Peanut, Rock melon, Pitaya (Dragon fruit), Carrots, Tomatoes, Green bean, Mini shrimps. The wholle thing is served with a light dressing with spicy chilli sauce. There is some other kind of crispy sticks which I cannot define what are they. It’s a clever mix between salty, sweet, sour and spicy. Really, this would be served in a trendy restaurant for $40 dollars or more when I’ve paid 20baht. This woman is a chef :-)

After that nice dinner, we moved to a place called “Tha Pom Klong Song Nam“. I’ve chose this place because it positions next to a river. I’ve expected to be able to have a swim tonight and sleep fresh. Soon after we left, the road signs indicated the place that seems to be touristy. We got there by night. The area was completely sleepy except one man who welcomed us.
First, we walked around the kind of park which is not free during day time. The moon was bright enough so we could distinguish things and shapes very easily. When we finished our visit, the man came back to us and offered to reopen the toilets for us. He even showed us how to turn on the electricity and open the water valve. Nice!
Finally, we decided to camp in this small park. They built wooden platforms and paths plus tiny shelters something like 1.50 metres above the ground. Every time a tree was on the way, they did not cut it but modified the shape of those wooden paths. The place was very nice and quiet and we could hear the river not far away. Once our camp was ready we had a swim in the fresh river. That’s the best way to finish the day ;-)
