Kom and Tu’s house, day off

We discussed yesterday with Kom and Tu and they want to show me around. My Thai visa ends on the 5th of April  so I’m still able to make it on time. Today we went to a waterfall. I think water attractions are the best during this very dry season. The kids enjoy a lot! We have spent several hours here and then came back to their home where I played with the kids to different games.

Wow, I did not expect to see something like this here. These big pipes collect the fresh water from the source I guess and let the people on the other side having clear water. Unfortunately, this area is not very clean. There is rubbish all around.

This path leads downstairs.

Looks like there is the same bamboo platforms as yesterday.

During the rainy season, all these platforms disappear. In fact, theey would be completely submerged.

There is no one for now so we have the entire choice for us. Actually we have changed three times our emplacement before they were satisfied haha.

As soon as we stopped, hop, all the kids rushed into the water :-)

Unfortunately I did not take more pictures today. The family played in the water most of the time. As yesterday, they order food to the different restaurants that provide these platforms. Every single piece of food they served was wrapped in plastic. The plates and bowls were in foam plastic texture as well as the forks, the spoon, the glass, eveything…. I didn’t have the choice than to use them if I wanted to eat or drink something. That was painful. Some countries work hard to reduce their consuption and make the people feel that we make good actions towards the ecologie when some other countries doesn’t care at all. Of course, it’s convenient, flexible, light and especially cheap but… that’s so much pollution. Don’t they see that? Unfortunately not. Most of the people just burn them on the other side of the road as I mentioned before. The governement should be blamed for what they don’t do.

During my stay, Kom talked about forest fire. What he said certified my guess about the haze here. People burn their field to make it more fertile but rapidely loose control of it. Yesterday, the chef of the village informed everyone (using the public speakers) that a fire was on its way towards their village. He asked the men to help by going there and try to stop it. Yesterday night we could not see anything from where we were but this evening, the smoke appeared and tonight I could very clearly see the fire slowly going forward down the hill. Kom and Tu’s home is on the opposite side of the road so they don’t have to fear of anything but front of us, there is other habitations. During all night we could hear the sound of the fire, the different trees cracking under its pressure. Fortunately, it burned only patches here and there but at some point the flames were easily 10 metres high.

See ya!

  1. Ummm… I understand they can’t use glass or ceramic plate in case of break. (here, people cut their feet with broken beer bottles.)
but they still can use a plastic picnic plates if they want to…

The bamboo platform is very clever. I have never seen those!
