Today is another step towards Chiang Mai. The nights become slightly more fresh but that’s still not enough to use my 5°C sleeping bag :-) We have spent most of the day along the Ping river and visited a religious place when we arrived in Tak. This one as the particularity to have a huge collections of animals, mainly elephants and roosters.
Map.
This morning we left around 6:30am and could enjoy the sunrise over the river.
Portrait sunset.
The road is still narrow and not busy which is nice.
We can observe some huge properties like this one. I’m not sure if the style of this house balances more on the “modern style” or the authentic one but it looks nice. I like the roof tiles and all the wood carving on the balcony and everywhere basically.
We are nearly in Tak city centre. We could have used the main bridge which is like 500m away ahead but that’s more fun to get on this one.
Good morning :-)
That’s the Ping river (again) and the main bridge I was talking about on the background.
View from the other side.
Not far away from the river bank there is that famous religious place we can visit. Its name is Somdej Phrachao Taksin Maharat Shrine.
Side view.
Some military men are also coming here to pray.
This is the main reason why I’m here. I’ve seen online that this place has this huge collection of animals. Most of them are roosters and Elephants but there is some other sculptures like horses too.
For foreground to background, the place is covered with tiny, small, medium and large sculptures.
You can easily see where those roosters are coming from on the previous picture.
A lot of them!
Why there is so many of them in Thailand?Mainly they bring luck to the people and families. This page explains it with more details.
These crowd of elephants are at the background on the previous picture.
After the visit of this place we had lunch then rested at the park situated behind the religious place. The rising temperature made us move again to a place where we could enjoy some air condition. Around 5pm, we kept on cycling along the river until we found a temple where to spend the night.
That’s the place. Tonight, we sleep upstairs. I hope my bike will be safe because I won’t be able to keep an eye on it.
There is enough poles here to find the way to use my hammock. No hard floor this time. Good night!
Trop drôle ton hamac dans la maison !
