Dunmarra campsite, day off

It’s about nine o’clock now and my tent is under the sun but that’s fine because it’s not that hot yet. See, no one around here. This is a pretty nice day as usual up here. No clouds in the sky, more than 30 degrees during the day. The stuart highway is just behind these trees and we can hear and distinguish the traffic from here but I don’t really bother. Just behind my tent there is a big cage with five birds in it. They look like parrots. On the left side, outside of the picture (I like saying that as it’s very useful to describe something which is not visible :-) there is a tiny swimming pool. And the shadow coming from the bottom of the picture is the toilets and showers.

Over there, the roadhouse and the Stuart highway.

The block with the toilets and showers. There is a washing machine as well.

The caravan side. Yesterday night was nearly full and I’m sure more travellers will arrive early this afternoon.

Yesterday afternoon, I’ve met a couple of couples in the campsite :-)
I met Firma and Albert who have a problem with their campervan. The brake system liquid is pouring on the road which is a major problem. They could not fix it here so they drove early this morning to Katherine to fix it. This morning Firma came to me and offer me some food as I told here I was short. She gave me two bags of dry soup, a small can of baked beans and a packet of noodles :-) Thanks! She hesitated to give me that last one because the date was 2014.04.10. Bah, that’s only one year old! I’ll take it! I don’t like waste! She came back to her campervan and gave me that one :-)

I met Steve and Jackie as well with who I spent plenty of time talking. They stay 3 nights as well and both of us arrived yesterday so we have time.

And we are now visiting around with Steve. A woman told me this morning that there is a paddock on the opposite side of the highway. It’s not far away and it’s pretty nice. Well, why not! Steve is afroad or hate (I’m not sure) cows and we are in a place where there is lots a marks that tell us that cows come here often.

Apparently they are not around now so that’s cool. Yes, that paddic is nice :-)

Two old wind mill. I don’t know why they don’t keep them working because they are useful and don’t need any electric energy. They are ecologic and nice to watch. Technology leaves behind some good, simple inventions that we should not forget.

All that water only 50 metres from the road. Hard to believe!

Yesterday night I was surprise to see some frog. But when I start to look closer and around, I realised there were dozen of them! They found the perfect spot right under the light waiting for their dinner to come straight in their mouth. Lazy!

And then, on the ground, there is more and bigger ones.

And even bigger ones! The big fat one could be Toad frogs which is a pest in Australia. The whites introduced that frog to get rid of a bug that was destroying the human cultures. But this tod became out of control (like everytime) and now other animals die because of this one. In fact, the Tod (Todd?) frog is venomous and animals here don’t know that…

This place is full of animals. After the birds, the frogs, now the buffalo! It’s a pregnant female which lives around. I’ve seen it yesterday afternoon, heard it yesterday night and it’s now front of me :-)

That beast is quite impressive with its long horns! But it would not come to us as long as we don’t carry a yellow bucket which means “Lunch time!”. haha :-)

That’s all for today, I’ll let Bufallo eating and I’m gonna sleep. Bye!
