Singapore, being homeless again :-)

IMG_20150928_193544

As we agreed with David, I would leave his house today but I want to stay few more days in Singapore. First, I want to finish updating my blog. Second, I might be able to see Nicole, Jose and Jean-Louis again! We kept in touch since we met in Darwin and knew we could see each other in Singapore. They are sailing, I’m cycling. When I arrived in Singapore they told me they would be here in about two weeks. This is why I’ve decided to stay a bit longer here and why I met David too. If I knew I would be late to see them I would have continued my trip right through Singapore and would have spend only few days here. I stayed at David’s place until 6pm, then we said goodbye. This is very strange to be by myself once again. Every time when this happens, I need few days to get used to it again. I had good time with David and Vic. And their respective stories are quite interesting and very different.

Singapore, the club

IMG_20150925_165535

This is the club I was talking about last time. Today, it’s one of David’s son birthday. Unfortunately the kids planned to have a swim all together but this is not possible as the haze still remains. We are Friday but it’s very calm here. Normally there is a lot of people walking around, and obviously using the swimming pool. It seems that everyone stays at home today. That’s all for today, nothing special to show or talk about.

Singapore, Mustafa experience

IMG_20150924_171304

Another mission today! I went with Vic doing some shopping at the Mustafa center situated in Little India. This place is open 24h and apparently it’s cheap. We have been cycling there and you definitely know when you arrive next to that supermarket. There was thousands of people walking in the street. On the other side of the road, there is an empty area with grass. Here more and more people was sitting on the grass waiting for I don’t know what. Vic told me that they are workers but it was actually 4pm so I don’t really understand why they are waiting here now. We found a place where to park our bicycles. I was not really reassure about leave my bike here but well, I did not too much choice.

Singapore, workshop

IMG_20150922_123825

I’m still at David’s place! David tolds me I don’t make trouble so he is happy if I stay a bit longer with him. I try to help when I can even if Vic is payed to keep the house clean. So today I make my contribution: In two days, it’s going to be the birthday of one of David’ sons. Vic asked me if I wanted to create a birthday invitation card. I was not really motivated to do that until I found the perfect idea for him. His son loves Minecraft like all the kids of his age. Every time I’ve seen him at the club, he is front of the computer playing that game or watching videos about it.

Singapore, arty spot

IMG_20150919_155602

Well well well, sometimes when I’m not working on my website I’m going out, yes really! I’m cycling around, looking for a new t-shirt. But I want to by a special one: a bamboo t-shirt :-) Since I’m travelling I’ve been using merino t-shirt and so far it works very well. Many travellers on their website talk about merino and it’s benefits. Merino is lightweight, warm, has natural antibacterial properties (means it doesn’t smell bad like cotton), you can wear it several days before it smells a bit which is perfect for travellers like me! I personally rince my t-shirt everyday to keep it even more fresh. Then on the other side, I’ve heard about Bamboo clothings. The first time, I was in Australia, Alice Springs, where I discovered the bamboo socks. I could not imagine how to get from bamboo, like the bamboo stick, to socks… Bamboo seems to have the same kind of benefits than the Merino but from what I’ve tested the materials seems heavier. In fact, all my Merino t-shirts ended with big holes… This website did nice table to compare the materials. So what should I bought today?

Singapore, walking through the haze with Marivic

IMG_20150921_122112

Something I’ve forgot to mention. When I met David the first time he offered me to stay one night. That same day during the evening, he told me I could stay a week. So for now, I’m not camping on the beach anymore. I have a lot of free time because David goes everyday cycling, then at the gym and finally at the club. I did not update my blog since because I’m working on my blog. I’ve updated a bit the design and then redo my own website in case I would look for a job here. When I start doing this kind of thing I cannot stop! Especially because I want to catch up with the technology and there is so much new stuff to learn.
This afternoon, I follow Vic to the club. We got in a bus first and then decided to walk for the second part of the trip. Since a week now, the haze has been pretty bad here. I’ve never experience something like this. The city is constantly misty, grey. It’s sad. I don’t even remember when I saw the blue sky or the sun.
