Today, I’m going to get on a tour offered by Nicole and Jose (Thanks :-). As I knew, the haze is still very thick today so I see things in black and white. It was a bit tricky to find the right bus stop but I did make the tour. Then as usual, I came back to the library and finally to the beach. Classic!
Starting with this morning, this is the shelter where I’ve stayed last night. No police came, nobody bother me last night but it was not the best sleep of all. I used to have a pillow and I’d say it’s an important accessory to have in travel. I thought with my hammock it would not be necessary so when the cheap one I had fall apart I did not get a new one. Last night, I missed my old pillow…
I cycled back in town and got on the bus around midday. This was a bit tricky to find the right bus stop because I did not have the tourist map from the company. First, I found a bus stop and seen the bus passing front of me… The driver shook his harm towards where I should have waited. I crossed the road and found another bus stop. Few minutes later, another tourist bus arrived and slow down. I waved to him, the bus stopped and the driver opened the door. When I entered the driver said something like “the bus stop is not here! There!” Well why did you stop then, and where was that bloody bus stop! Anyway, I got in :-) That’s the only bright colours I’ve seen during the tour: the bus floor haha.
First view, building works and very thick haze.
We cross a river and continue along.
Regards the size of Singapore, there is lots of high buildings. I don’t want to imagine this city in 100 hundreds years. Houses like David’s one will cost even more millions or will be smashed down. Real Estate agency dream about building every night I guess.
And some more.
A quick look in video (but it’s still grey).
Oh! surprise! This is a completely different style here. I hope they will keep that place has it is.
Some crazy design here.
Or here.
The haze remains and doesn’t seem to disappear any time soon.
Too much grey here!
And shopping everywhere. This is all about Singapore: high buildings and shopping mall. This is kind of boring to me. And even if you want to be in the nature (there is lots of parks) you must wear a mask because of the smoke. How come people like it here?
This “eco” building is the national art school. The kind of wood texture is actually made with concrete. Very well done!
This is hard to take pictures when moving. I know I can get out and catch the next bus but I’m lazy ;-) Hoooouuu, not good!
Nicole, Jose and Jean-Louis talked about this building yesterday night: “SIM LIM Square”. It’s like “Rue Mongallet” in Paris, full of electronic shops! I remember David mentioned that once when we were cycling around this place.
Some more shade of grey here ;-)
Another old fashioned building (maybe brang by the english?).
Few! these one are huge!
The driver told us to go out of the bus. I must catch another one to continue the visit. In that second bus, the “electronic visit” is working but they don’t give us many details.
This building which is where I came few time to get in the library is called commonly the “Jack fruit“. Effectively, it looks like a giant one :-)
Two giant ones!
Wow! This is very bad today! We can barely see the “boat hotel” from here… I’m glad I wear a mask.
Sorry, I was wrong, there is nearly some colours in that pictures. We are turning around Chinatown, the place where I got on the bus an hour or two ago.
This is it! :-) Same place like before and yesterday. I can go straight to the library now, easy :-) Later on, I will come back at the beach to sleep (in my hammock this time). See ya!
Ça donne pas franchement envie de se taper 12 heure d’avion tout ça !!
“SIM LIM Square” = “Rue Mongallet” = “Akihabara” in Japan. I don’t know any in Australia.
Grey sky has a good side as well, you don’t get scorched on roof top bus.
the smoke is no good for you good idea to wear a mask.
