Cambodia might be a poor country but that doesn’t mean you cannot find any organic stuff like eggs here :-) This company even wrap the eggs inside a nice packaging. Once used, the customer can bring it back to the shop so the company can use it again. Pretty clever and ecolo.
Siem Reap, Angkor wat, second day (48km)
Siem Reap, rainy day off
Arf! This morning, rain has been pouring down, I didn’t want to cycle out and be soaking wet. So I will do a very short visit of one of the cheapest guesthouse I’ve found (3$ per night in a 3 beds dorm). They should rename this place “the jungle guesthouse”. It’s a bit outside the center but still very accessible when you have a bike.
Siem Reap, Angkor Wat, first day (44km)
Hey, that’s such a long time ago I did not update this blog. Usually when I don’t move I don’t have any motivation to write anything but today is different. I’m going to move very soon only 15km away to join an NGO during one month or more. I’ve discovered yesterday the website workaway which proposes everything I was looking for since a while. I don’t even know why and how I did not find this website earlier. So now I have the motivation to write again because a new adventure is coming and I’m late, very late… So, let’s go back in time, at the end of June more precisely, when I just reached Siem Reap the day before and visited for the first time the world famous Angkor Wat. The visit is not further than a click away now!
Siem Reap, Angkor Wat, first quick visit
Today I’m having a quick tour in the Angkor park. Angkor Wat (temple) is one of the main attraction but there is a lot of other smaller temples all around the park. We can buy tickets from 5 to 7pm every day. I choose a “3 day pass” (40$) which will start tomorrow. Then I can go 3 days within a week. Now, I have two hours I can spend in the park for free except that I cannot enter inside the temples. That’s better then nothing :-)
Siem Reap suburb > Siem Reap (8km)
That’s the hotel where I slept for free last night. I’ve never imagined an hotel like this one. It’s particular. Well, never mind… This morning, I’ve done the few kilometres towards the center. On the way, I met the same guy again, the one who offer me a drink yesterday. He was cycling too, like training. We cycle together until the center and he gave me a quick introduction of the city, nice :-) After that, I waited in a park along the river until it was time to head to the guesthouse. That’s it! Short and easy day today :-)
National Road 6 > Siem Reap suburb (85km)
First night in Cambodia! That was a good one :-) Nobody bothered me, I was far enough from the main road to avoid the traffic noise. I was lucky because this row of trees has only one spot that I could use. One is enough though :-) I might arrive around Siem Reap today but I will manage to find a spot just before the city to save one night in a guesthouse. Actually, for this second night, I’m going to sleep in a hotel but I don’t know it yet ;-) Cheers!
