Nam Fa > Luang Namtha (70km)

DSCF2167

Today I’m gonna reach Luang Namtha where I will stay minimum 8 days. I’ve got some work to do from my laptop and fortunately found a very nice guesthouse on Booking. One night in a bungalow cost 69.000Kip (7.50€). I’ve my own little terrace, toilets, shower, room and bed.

Back to this early morning. I’ve said temporarily goodbye to Tang and Chiang (as I will see them very soon) and I started my last journey towards Luang Namtha. Nam Fa is now behind be.

DSCF2140

The weather is extremely covered this morning and it’s chilly again.

DSCF2141

The fog stays very low.

DSCF2143

We can barely see the top of the hills around.

DSCF2144

A moment later, the weather becomes more clear.

DSCF2145

I’ve stopped for a minute because there is a cave to visit. Apparently it’s not free. I wonder if this place is abandoned or simply close now.

DSCF2146

Let’s have a look.

DSCF2147

I can already see the cliff from here so the cave must be close.

DSCF2148

Effectively there is a cave here but the door is locked. That’s fine.

DSCF2150

Just when I was ready to go, I’ve seen the manager of the cave who arrived at 9:00am. I prefered to keep going than to spend money.

I like this one. I’m actually pushing my bike uphill again and just overtaken this truck. The blue truck stopped in the middle of the curve. The curtains inside are close so I believe the guy is sleeping haha. Could you find another place? No, here, in the middle of the road is fine for you!
Since Indonesia now, when someone stopped on the side of the road they always use branches that they put on the ground or attach to their vehicles to prevent the other drivers. This guy did the same naturally but well, he is really at a tricky spot…

DSCF2152

Few! That’s going down again!

DSCF2153

This place is a school for children.

DSCF2154

Nothing fancy here. When I see a place like this, if I would be a kid I would be happy to enter inside. Our schools are scary. They look like prison.

DSCF2156

That’s another typical Laos house.

DSCF2155

Let’s keep going.

DSCF2157

Ah you see? I told you :-) I’m going to walk again…

DSCF2158

20 minutes later… I’m finally at the top. Almost! Those goats know where to take a rest. Actually I was on a similar spot yesterday ;-) Normally, from now on and until Luang Namtha, this is downhill all the way. Cool!

DSCF2159

Here I am! I’ve reached the valley and Luang Namtha is not far anymore.

DSCF2160

In 2 or 3 kilometres I should reach my destination.

DSCF2161

I had some troubles finding the guesthouse as the address on Booking.com was false. But finally I made it. Taidam Guesthouse, this is where I’m going to spend the next week :-)

DSCF2162

The entrance looks good.

DSCF2163

I’ve paid what I had to, carried my bike and trailer to my bungalow and I’m now ready for a short photo session. This place looks pretty nice and it was the cheapest I could possibly find.

DSCF2164

There is 8 bungalows, all next to each other.

DSCF2165

I’m in number 4.

DSCF2166

That’s the one on the right hand side :-)

DSCF2167

The view, nice and peaceful :-)

DSCF2168

The little terrace, big enough to fit my bicycle and trailer which is hooked outside for convenience.

DSCF2170

And the room :-) Good! That’s it for today :-) See ya!

  1. Tu m’étonnes que tu veuilles rester…sympa le bungalow lol. En tout cas vu ce que je vois sur ton blog je crois que je vais bientôt pousser moi aussi ah ah!!!

  2. The accommodation looks fantastic ! Looks clean and comfortable with wooden floor and nice view ! Good deal !

  3. Trop mimi le bungalow ! ça me rappelle Bali … Souvenirs ! Et dire que je suis enfermée dans un bureau toute la journée. Pas trop de moustiques avec la rivière toute proche ?
