Fantastic day today! I had no idea that I was going to see that place today but the buses full of tourists reminded quickly that I was reaching one of the famous place in Victoria: The Twelve Apostles. Actually, they are only eleven now as one collapsed in 2005 (you can see it on the picture). The place is very impressive even if I felt half between between being in “Disney World” or “The Great Wall of China”. Let’s start the visit! Caution: lots of rocks pictures ;-)
Map.
It’s 7am and I’m awake :-) It’s always good to start early. This is the stop where I’ve pitched my tent last night and it’s one of the best one I found in Australia. Actually, it reminds me New Zealand :-)
Hop! on the saddle :-)
The temperature is about 12 degrees now so I must take off my pullover when I’m climbing and put it back when I’m going downhill. That way, I won’t be sick. But I’m sick of doing that! haha! I’ve just reach a summit so it’s good to have a break some stretching and chocolate!
Lavers Hill! Aaah this is why I was going uphill!
Not much here a part public toilets with non drinkable water. I keep going!
Ouuuh, this means I’m going downhill soon :-)
Beeeh!
Nice fluffy one!
Cycling down the valley :-)
Over there is Princetown where I’m going to have lunch.
The town center :-) Few! Sooo crowded here!
This cafe looks nice :-)
I wanted some hot chips and the first cafe did not make them so I’m now in the second one :-)
It was $5 for on bucket! rah! But this bag was full and the bucket is so small. I don’t why they still use those “cups” if they put more the 4 times its size. I expected to have SOME hot chips with my lunch but I’m already full and I did not start my lunch yet…
Yesterday, I felt something wrong with my back wheel, like it was not totally round… And I figured it out this morning when I did a break. The tire is damaged on two points and I know why. Yesterday I was going downhill and reach an intersection. I was watching the signs when suddenly a big hole was front of me. Fortunately I avoid the deepest part of it but the this tire did not like it. Rah! this is bad because it’s a new one. I was expecting to do 10000km with it and it’s danaged already… I applied some electric tape around so the scratch won’t expend, hopefully. Then I will swap the tires because the front one doesn’t have too much pressure. It should be ok I guess. Bad luck!
This place is funny. This is a round about and there is 5m to walk to the lookout on the right side. Since 30 minutes maybe I’ve seen so many tourist, in there car, driving around slowly without even moving their ass out of their bloody pollution box! Pff! Sooo lazy guys!
I’m now at “Gibbs Steps” the first site where there is rocks to see ;-) My bike is safe here so I let’s visit :-)
Wow! very nice!
Wow! VERY nice!
Video!
Power of Nature!
I don’t know which on to choose so I put them all :-)
Portrait one :-)
Here the Gibbs Steps.
The cliff is impressive!
From downstairs.
I’m continuing my way forward now. There is lots of lookout every 5 km maybe and the next one looks like famous.
Ah yeh, it’s certainly famous. This is where all the buses which passed me this morning went. Here!
Houuu, very organised here. Are we in Disney World or what?
The 12 Apostles! and the (1000 tourists + me).
I met a motocyclist guy here so I took a picture for him and he’s doing one for me :-)
Video!
This is hard to have a picture without 300 Chinese around but I did it haha :-)
There is another spot there apparently.
Video!
And I try to reach the end.
This is there same two rocks that I’ve seen when I was down the Gibbs Steps. Very nice!
Video!
Another try.
The personal shot :-) shhhh.
I finally come back to my bike and take a last shot of those 12(11) Apostles.
A bit more cycling and I’m now on another site.
The thunder cave used to have an arch but it collpased.
And today it looks like this.
This is where the thunder noise is coming from. When the water goes in, it create a low heavy noise. Cool! Listen to it here.
Some more rocks :-)
More I move west, less there is tourists :-) Those buses just go the the famous spots.
Hey, a nice place to sleep there!
Nice arch :-)
And nice color for the water.
And somewhere else.
This place is really impressive.
And another spot.
A pro would know how old are these formations. I’ve no idea… million of years certainly?
Portrait.
Panoramic.
Rocks and flowers.
This one will be nice for home page slideshow :-)
Different focus.
Different focus.
I could take more and more picture. It’s the perfect place to learn I think.
Hoou, the sky is getting darker. I should move I guess.
Port Campbell Welcome. Thanks!
A small break, toilets, sugar and let’s go.
The town centre.
I’ve got 10 more kilometres and I will be happy to stop.
The last climb for the day.
rain is coming.
I though the visit was finished but no!
This is it!
The west side.
I met a young german couple here which travel in Australia since 9 months. Like many young students guys they took a gap year. They travel by car but do the same way as me. They sleep on the road (in there car) and try to find good spot every night. Good luck guys and thanks for the picture :-)
A bit more cycling and I’v reach the London arch. It used to be two arch here but the left one collapsed in 1990.
Informations.
Getting dark. I need to hurry up if I want to reach the next small town.
8km later I arrived finally in Peterborough where I found a very useful place. Toilets, cold shower and electricity all at the same place. I’ve plugged my laptop, phone and GPS and started washing my clothes. Then I had a shower, which was freezing cold! Tonight, I’m watching a movie in my tent :-) All my stuff is clean, I am as well and the ground is flat. I’m gonna have a perfect night! See ya!
The website was same…. just my computer was playing up…. I am having a trouble loading your page. May be too heavy for our PC? Anyways, I love the color of the ocean. Are we allowed to swim there in summer time?
